Youth Music Lovers (previously Music for Love), is a not-for-profit organization created and managed by young musicians with a passion for music as well as a desire to share their talents within the Greater Golden Horseshoe area. 

 

Our mission is to develop music enthusiasm and to encourage music enrichment and leadership within local youth,  to serve the disadvantaged population, as well as to celebrate and promote arts and culture within the Golden Horseshoe community.

We, as a group of students, started “Music for Love” in summer 2016, re-branded to “Youth Music Lovers (YML)” in 2017. Since then, we have held numerous concerts in long-term care homes and various events throughout the Hamilton and Halton area. We have been focused on bringing our mission to awareness within the community. Our Summer and Fall Music Series have been well received and highly appreciated by the community. Some of the recent local events we have attended include Hamilton’s first Newcomers Day, the HMCS Haida’s 75th-anniversary celebration, Lady Boss Christmas Shopping Extravaganza. In 2019, we participated in multiple community events as well.

 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have organized three virtual concerts over Zoom. One was held on July 1st, 2020 to commemorate Canada Day, and another was held on August 1st, 2020. Our most recent concert celebrated the holiday season and the conclusion of 2020 on December 24th, 2020. We thank everyone who has participated in our past initiatives, and hope that 2021 brings a fresh start of new beginnings!
